This book is a must-read if you are considering a career in academia. Jen Heemstra shares advice on the skills you need to master beyond doing great science. In graduate school, most programs do not put enough emphasis on the soft skill side of things. Labwork to Leadership addresses this gap by providing practices grounded in research and lots of experience.
No Rules Rules by Reed Hastings and Erin Meyer
A deep dive into the organizational culture behind Netflix, centred around feedback, radical candour, and trust. I believe that fostering a feedback culture is key to developing great ideas, and this book gave me ideas on how to create such an environment.
The Netflix Culture Deck is a short summary of the same principles. The company Valve also has a similar Handbook for New Employees.
